LES TRANCES RITUELLES BRASILIENNES ET LES PERSPECTIVES DE LEUR APPLICATION A LA PSYCHIATRIE ET A LA MÉDECINE PSYCHOSOMATIQUE (Ritual Trance in Brazil and its Possible Use by Psychiatry and Psychosomatic Medicine) by DAVID AKSTEIN, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Typescript, I5 PP. (in French)

Ritual trance in Brazil is a religious and cultural phenomenon that originates from Africa. It is practiced by several cults. AKSTEIN describes the Umbanda ceremonies and their psychological effects. He holds that the tension releasing effect of kinetic trance could be invaluable in the treatment of neurotic and psychosomatic disorders.
